A plague of plastic windows? A sash window manufacturer's response…
In an interview in June 2009 on the BBC News website, Chris Wood from English Heritage raised a number of objections to the trend of replacing old timber sash windows in conservation areas with modern uPVC alternatives. Mr Wood complains of a 20 to 30 year assault on traditional timber windows by uPVC window fitters; the result, he claims, is that uPVC windows are spoiling the look of England's 9,000+ conservation areas.

Unsurprisingly we couldn't agree more! Not only do they spoil the look but also you lose the sense of history that these wonderful buildings along with their windows provide.
