JMP Joinery - Specialists in sliding box sash windows
Specifications:

Because we are involved in the whole process from initial measuring, to cutting, finishing and then fitting the windows, we can be sure that our work is accurate and perfect.

Our windows are made from European Redwood with hardwood sills. All sashes are mortised and tenoned with scribed joints and glazing bars.

We use our own standard pattern horn on sliding sashes, unless replicating one from an original window in the customer's or a neighbouring property.

The sash window typically consists of two frames, or sashes, with anything between one and half-a-dozen or more panes of glass. They slide within the window case, while stabilised by sash weights attached to cords and hidden within the case of the window.

On construction of the box, the sashes are fitted to suit, then both are treated with wood preserver, one of knotting and one coat of oil-based primer. Finally two coats of undercoat and one gloss coat of the client's choice are applied to all external timber.

To comply fully with Document 'L' of the new building regulations and due to its exceptional thermal performance, we use PLANITHERM FUTUR N glass in an argon-filled 4-8-4 mm double-glazed unit.

 The unit is sealed into the sash and secured by bonding and pinning a putty line profile timber glazing bead.

A draught-proofing system is incorporated unobtrusively during the fabrication of the window, using a polypropylene brush weather strip.

The sashes are traditionally hung on waxed jute-covered nylon cord through a solid brass pulley wheel attached to either a lead or steel counter weight.
We always suggest you speak to a local building control officer to identify if there are any requirements or controls placed against replacing your windows;
